Let the fun begin!

Looking for something for your kids to do this summer? Are they athletically inclined? Do they like sports, but aren’t sure which sport to pursue? Then you may want to consider signing them up for the Superdome Sports Camp this summer.

Area parents now have another summer camp option after the Mews Chevrolet Superdome recently announced its new All Star Sports Camp. File photo

The Superdome staff will be holding week long sports camps in the climate controlled facility for youth aged six to 13 beginning July 3.

Each camp session will run from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. and will include activities both inside and outside the dome such as soccer, golf, archery, softball, touch football, Ultimate frisbee and volleyball.
Instruction and supervision will be provided by a team of experienced and enthusiastic counsellors, who are also well rounded athletes, High Five certified and trained in First Aid and CPR.

The aim of the sports camp is to provide quality instruction in a variety of sports, with particular attention given to developing and enhancing the participant’s self esteem. The camps four basic principles are fun, participation, skill development and fair play.

The cost of the five day camp is $189.99 per week and includes a daily lunch and a free T-shirt. The price is reduced to $151.99 for the four day camps which coincide with the long weekends. A supervised early drop-off and pick up service is also available after 7:30 a.m. and before 5:30 p.m. at an additional cost of $5 per day.

Each camper is required to bring their own running shoes, sunscreen, shorts and T-shirt, sweat shirt, sweat pants and snacks for breaks. Campers can bring their own equipment for the sports activities at their own risk.

Registration forms can be picked up in person at the Superdome located at the Hornet’s Nest soccer facility on Bearbrook Road or they can be downloaded at www.superdome.ca. Visitors to the website can also view the complete Summer Camp lunch menu.
