Fatal collision on
Hwy. 174 near Trim Rd. leaves two dead

Ottawa police are investigating a fatal collision on Hwy. 174 between Trim Rd. and Quigley Hill Rd. involving a tractor trailer and a pick-up truck that has left two people dead.

The accident occured shortly before 10 a.m. this morning about two kilometres east of Trim Rd. near the rock bluff on the south side of Hwy. 174. According to preliminary reports the Dodge pick-up truck was traveling west bound when it collided head on with the tractor trailer.

A male and a female believed to be in their 30s were declared dead at the scene, while the male driver of the transport truck was taken to hospital with minor injuries.

The investigation is expected to last into the early evening during which Hwy. 174 will be closed between Trim Road and Cameron Street.
