An Orléans man
is expected to be charged with a second count of second degree murder after
an elderly woman became the second victim of a high rise fire he allegedly
caused on Christmas Eve morning near Alta Vista.
Ali Issaky, 23,
already faces one count of second degree murder and one count of arson in
connection with the fire which police suspect was started in a Christmas
wreath attached to one of the doors on the second floor of a 15-storey high
rise building at 1695 Playfair Dr. north of Kilborne Avenue.
Margaret Ikkers,
57, died in the fire. She is survived by her husband Bob Ikkers, who left
the apartment shortly before the fire broke out to go work at OC Transpo
where he volunteered for an early morning shift driving a bus to help pay
for a trip to Manitoba to see his step-daughter. The deceased had one daughter
and two sons by a previous marriage.
Issaky will undoubtedly
be charged with a second count of second degree murder after an elderly
woman passed away from injuries sustained in the fire on Saturday.
It is not known
how police came to identify Issaky as a suspect, or why and how the fire
was set.
