Local free flu shot clinics to begin next week

With
old man winter lurking just around the corner it's time
to protect yourself from the flu with a free flu shot
available at a series of local clinics.
The
first free flu shot clinic of the season will be held
at Sir Wilfrid Laurier Secondary School next Thursday, Nov. 1from 3:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m.
This
year, the Ontario Ministry of Health and Long-term Care
has provided three strains of influenza vaccines for distribution,
including the 2009 H1N1 strain, the influenza A/H3N2 strain,
and an influenza B strain.OPH.
Ottawa's
Medical Health Officer Dr. Isra Levy is quick to remind
residents that the flu vaccine is perfectly safe and it
the most effective way to guard against catching the flu
especially for the very young and seniors.
The
flu vaccine is safe and is the most effective way to protect
yourself and your loved ones from the flu. I invite residents
to talk to their health care provider about the vaccine
or attend a free vaccination clinics," says Dr. Levy.
Future
free shot clinics will be held at Ecole secondaire Beatrice-Desloges
on Nov. 20; Heritage Public School in Navan on Nov. 21;
Ecole secondaire Louis-Riel on Nov. 24; St. Matthew High
School on Dec. 8; an Cairine Wilson Seconary School on
Dec. 11.
