Planning committee approves crematorium rezoning for Taylor Creek Business Park

The City of Ottawa planning committee has approved a rezoning application that will allow for the construction of a funeral home and crematorium next to the Orléans Bowling Centre on Taylor Creek Road.

The property, which is located on the northeast corner of Taylor Creek Road and Trim Road across from the Esso station, was originally zoned for an automobile service station, convenience store, car wash and gas bar as permitted uses.

The rezoning is just the first step in a long process before the funeral home can be built. Only one concern was been raised by members of the public in relation to the Taylor Creek rezoning application having to do with access to Trim Road.

In response, city staff confirmed that the proposed use would have to meet air quality standards set out by the Ontario Ministry of Envrironment and there would be no direct access to Trim Road.
