A local BBQ catering company, an Orléans butcher and a prominent retailer are joining forces this Sunday to provide a special barbeque lunch for The Union Mission in downtown Ottawa.

Meatings.ca, Lavergne Western Beef and Giant Tiger are providing the cooking staff and the food to cook up a special lunch for The Mission and their clients between 11:20 p.m. and noon..

"We saw an opportunity to help people in our community - in this case Ottawa's homeless," says Mathieu Flosse, owner of Meatings.ca. "It's a great way to make a difference, and I'm pleased my company was able to partner with Lavergne Western Beef, which is providing all the sausages, and Giant Tiger, which is providing all the buns for the lunch.'

Chef Ric Watson, who is the manager of food services at The Mission, says the staff and cleints are very grateful for the opportunity to enjoy a BBQ lunch.

"We are delighted to see Meatings.ca, Lavergne Western Beef and Giant Tiger come together to provide people who are homeless and hungry with a delicious lunch," says Watson. "It's a special treat."

The Mission serves roughly 420,000 meals to people who are homeless over the course of the year.

As an added treat, a local barber from The House of Barons will also be set up inside The Ottawa Mission offering free haircuts to men at the shelter from 11:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m.
