A 20-year-old man has been charged with attempted murder in connection with a stabbing incident that took place on a quiet crescent in Queeswood Heights on Wednesday.

According to an Ottawa Citizen report, Michael Wassill, 20, was sheltering a female friend from her ex-boyfriend when the suspect indenified as 20-year-old Carson Morin, forced his way into Wassill's family home on Fernleaf Crescent. An altercation ensued during which Wassill's throat was slashed.

When paramedics arrived at the address, Wassill exhibited no vital signs. He was rushed to the Montfort Hospital where he was revived before being transported to the Ottawa Hospital Civic Campus for emergency surgery where he is currently listed in critical but stable condition.

The suspect fled the scene but was apprehended by police a little over two hours later.

According to Wassill's uncle, Paul Champ, the 20-year-old grew up on Fernleaf with his father and two older sisters.
