The Ottawa Police Special Investigation Unit has been brought in to investigate a single vehicle crash at Hwy. 174 and Trim Road that has left a 24-year-old male dead.

According to reports, the vehicle in question failed to pull over during an attempted stop on Trim Road just after midnight. The silver Volkswagen Jetta did not have its headlights on.

According to the same reports, a short pursuit ensued on Trim Road but it was called off shortly after it began. The accident occured not long after afterwards. No other details about the crash have been released and the name of the victim is not being released at the request of the family.

This is the second accident resulting in a fatality this weekend. A head-on collision on Montreal Road between Hwy. 174 and Bearbrook Road late Saturday night claimed the life of one person and sent three others to hospital with serious injuries.
