Chris Hoare to remain behind bars after bail bid denied

By Fred Sherwin

Orléans realtor Chris Hoare will have to wait for his attempted murder trial behind bars after his bid to be released on bail was denied Wednesday.

Hoare is accused of assaulting his wife with a baseball bat and trying to suffocate her in the garage of their St. Lucia Place home on April 2. He was arrested at the scene after a neighbour called 9-1-1.

The 44-year-old father of five sat stone-faced as the presiding Justice of the Peace denied his request for bail. The reasons for the decision is under a publication ban.

Beside being denied bail, Hoare was ordered not to have any contact with his wife except through legal counsel. He was also ordered not to communicate with brother Tim and the neighbour who called 9-1-1.

He was, however, granted supervised visitation with his five children as long as a representative from chld welfare is present. The visitations would also have to take place at the regional detention centre where he's being held.

Hoare's next court appearance will be on April 29.
