Public invited to celebrate arts centre's fifth anniversary

Members of the general public are invited to come celebrate a very special birthday on Saturday as the Shenkman Arts Centre marks its fifth year in operation.

The jam-packed itinerary includes performances by local artists, an Iron Chef competition, activities for the kids, workshops and, of course, great food.

Among the local artists performing will be the dance troupe Tara Luz; the Bytown Beat Chorus, the Loch Murray Dancers, the Gloucester Community Concert Band and the Capital Chordettes.

Some of the children's activities include face-paining, paper-cutting, silk-screening, a movie sound effects demontration., and cooking demonstration especially geared for young people.

There will also be pottery wheel demonstrations in the Gloucester Pottery School, a juggling workshop, an oragaami demonstration, a Mini Murder Mystery presenation and a beer garden.

The program runs from 9:30 a.m. until 4 p.m. and admission is totally free. For the complete itinierary visit www.Shenkman.ca.
