A 29-year-old Cardinal Creek man, who used the online pseudonym "Scotty Toppers", is in jail facing multiple charges relating to a series of cyber-stalking incidents involving more than 20 victims.

Nicholas Decarlo of Briargate Private in East Village has been charged with more than 20 counts of criminal harassment and extortion in relation to a series of incidents that took places over the last several months.

Decarlo stalked the victims on line by using photos and other information he obtained by either hacking into their e-mail accounts, or downloading images from their Facebook accounts.

In several of the cases, Decarlo altered the photos to make the vistim's appear nude. He then used the altered photos to try and extort money or personal items from the victims, some of whom were acquaintances he met through mutual friends.

More than 20 victims have so far contacted the police with more expected to come forward once news of the case spreads.

Besides the Internet stalking charges, Decarlo has also been charged wiith drug possession for the purpose of trafficking, possession of stolen property, possession of break and enter tools, and theft following the execution of a warrant at his Briargate residence.

When police searched the house they found two air pistols, ammunition, drugs, drug scales, computer equipment and break and enter tools.

Dicarlo remains in police custody awaiting his bail hearing.
