The Miracle League of Ottawa may have missed out on the $100,000 first prize in the TSN Kraft Celebration Tour, but they are more than happy with the consolation prize they received on Thursday in the form of a $210,000 donation from the Jays Care Foundation.

The surprise windfall puts the Miracle League of Ottawa project a giant step closer to hitting their million dollar fundraising goal to build a ball diamond for special needs children in Notre-Dame-des-Champs.

Miracle League president David Gourlay says the additional funding will allow them to proceed with construction of the diamond and playstructure which they hope to have ready for next summer.

As additional funds roll in from across Canada, they will be able to build an accessible washroom facility.

"We're feeling very good about this," Gourlay told TSN 1200 on Thursday. "The TSN Kraft Celebration Tour, that gave us national profile. I mean, we're getting a lot of calls now from corporations, from small businesses, from individuals."
