brewers, Marc Plante, Justin MacNeill, and Gen Benay,
are the brains behind Stray Dog.
planning started around three years ago when the team
were respective home brewers, however, they wanted to
take their passion for beer and share it with the world.
started off as mainly an excuse to drink beers together
and daydream, said MacNeill. But as we started
doing more research we kind of started thinking we may
be able to do this.
they made their recipe for This One the team said it planted
the seed to open up a brewery.
after tapping their first keg, Stray Dog is looking forward
to opening their brewery next spring in the Taylor Creek
whats the history behind This One? The style is
a California Common beer which MacNeill said is a unique
North American-style rich in history that dates
back to the gold rush era.
decided to go with this style because despite its name
its actually very uncommon. With the exception of
a couple small breweries no one else is making it and
we happen to think its delicious.
added that the beer is also an award-winning recipe that
theyve brewed for the past two years.
far as the name goes, its called This One and you
might be wondering why we decided to call it that
the idea is you go in and see it on a menu and say to
your server Ill take This One.
said they will only have the brew on tap for the first
bit, but they have several other beers theyre planning
on releasing once the brewery is up and running.
Orléans first craft brewery, its our obligation
to the community to put out the best possible beer we
added that if it wasnt for those who helped the
team, they couldnt be where they are today.
couldnt have done it without the support of our
family and friends and also the microbreweries in the
area. Theyve been supportive in giving information
and helping us out.
One is currently available on tap at OCCO Kitchen on Innes
and will soon be available at additional restaurants including
Broadways at Orléans Gardens.
