A young moose is back in the wild in the Mer Bleue Conservation Area after bein extracated from a backyard on Ste. Agathe Park in Convent Glen on Wednesday.

The Ottawa Police and NCC game wardens were called into rescue the moose, estimated to weigh between 500 and 600 lbs, after resident Leona Ritchie discovered it in her fenced off backyard..

"I went and had a look and there he was. He looked almost the size of a horse," Ritchie told a CFRA reporter.

it is assumed that the animal jumed over Ritchie's fence, and once in the yard was unable to jump back.

The NCC game wardens used a tranquilizer gun to subdue the moose befoe loading it on to a truck and transporting it to the Mer Bleue Bog.
