By Fred Sherwin
Orléans Online

The Cumberland Grads exploded for nine goals against the Kanata Stallions Friday night to extend their current winning steak to six games.

Rookie Kale Wild and Mathieu Ouellette each had a hat trick for the Grads who went into the Kanata Receational Complex and outshot the home team 55-34. Ouellette had three assists as well to lead the Grads with six points, while Mike Lemay had a pair of goals and Kevin Lough added a single in the 9-6 win.

The Grads were up 4-1 midway through the second period when the Stallions scored three unanswered goals to tie the game at 4-4.

Wild`s third goal of the game and second of the period with 1:03 left to go before the second intermission would prove to be the game winner as the Grads scored three unanswered goals in the third to extend their lead to 8-4.

Kanata managed to respond with a pair of goals to narrow the deficit to 8-6, but that would be as close as they would get as the Grads added an empty net goal with less than a second to go in the game to make the final score
9-6.

The Grads next game is at home on Sunday against the Nepean Raiders. Game time is 3 p.m.
