Shawn Lalonde
was hoping to spend the Christmas holidays in Regina this year, manning
the blueline for Team Canada at the World Junior Championships. Instead,
he'll be watching the tournament at his parents home in Orléans.
Lalonde
was among the final roster cuts on Tuesday as the team was trimmed down
to the final 22 players.
Before leaving
for Belleville, where he plays for the OHL's Belleville Bulls, Lalonde said
he had no regrets..
"I thought
it went wel. I showed I left it all on the ice, so I think I did fine,"
said Lalonde who has eight goals and 18 assists in 26 games so far this
season.
The third round
selection of the Chicago Blackhawks was one of only three OHL defenceman
who were invited to the Team Canada development camp. After registering
two assits in the first intrasquad game on Sunday, Lalonde was kept off
the score sheet on Monday and Tuesday.
