curler Rachel Homan continued her unbeaten run at the World Junior Curling Championships
in Flims, Switzerland on Wednesday with a pair of wins over Scotland and the Czech
Republic to clinch a berth in the playoffs. The
Homan rink, which is made up of includes third Emma Miskew, second Laura Crocker
and lead Lynn Kreviazuk, started off the day with a 7-6 win over Scotland. After
a short break they routed the Czech Republic 9-3 after scoring four points in
the seventh ends.
Canada
plays the host country Switzerland in the final draw of the round robin this morning.
They will then play in the 1-2 playoff game on Friday with the winner advancing
directly to Sunday's final. The
Canadians will likely play Sweden in the 1-2 game. The Swedes are 6-2, one up
on Switzerland, Russia and the U.S.A. who are all tied at 5-3. The assumption
is that Sweden will beat (2-6) Scotland in their final round robin game. (This
story was made possible thanks to the generous support of our local
