Senior Boys Football
Undefeated St. Peter Knights looking for fourth straight city title
By Fred Sherwin
Orléans Online

The St. Peter Knights improved their record to 4-0 with a win over the St. Mark Lions on Thursday and will now go into the playoffs as prohibitive favourites to win their fourth straight senior boys football championship and sixth in the last eight years.

The Knights made short work of the Lions, who played without all-star pivot Nick Goergichuk to protect him from possible injury heading into the post-season.

Alex Johnny did most of the damage for the Knights, carrying the ball five times for 100 yards while Jaylen King had 10 carries for 55 yards and a touchdown.

Starting quarterback Jake Molinski also had a touchdown for the Knights, as did Jeremy Salgo who returned an interception 40-yards late in the fourth quarter to cap the 29-6 victory.

The rest of the scoring was provided by Nick Arcuri who kicked three field goals and added three converts.

Tyrone Pierre was also a force, running back three punts for a total of 103 yards.

By finishing in first place the Knights should have an easy time of it in next week's semi-finals when they take on a winless and pointless Franco-Cité. The other semi-final will pit the second place St. Matthew Tigers against the Lions who split their two regular season games.
