The Orleans Red Sox junior and senior Little League teams are heading to the provincial championships after winning their respective District 6 tournaments on Tuesday.

The junior Red Sox scored four runs on five walks in the first inning and never looked back as they went on to beat the South Ottawa Blues 13-2 in seven innings.

The senior team used a productive first inning of their own to get a jump on the Carleton-Russell Aces on their way to a 7-3 win at Heritage Park in Chapel Hill.

The senior Red Sox scored four runs on three hits and an error in the top of the first inning sparked by a leadoff single by Christian Gervais.

Orleans scored two more in the third after Zach St. Pierre got hit by a pitch and Will Robinson got a free pass to first base and eventually scored on a fielder's choice.

The Red Sox would add an insurance run in the sixth, but they wouldn't need it as Alex Ferris and St. Pierre combined to limit the Aces to just three runs.

The senior team will have a few days to prepare for the provincial championships which will take place in Thunder Bay from July 23-29.

The junior Red Sox will be heading to Cornwall on Sunday where they will be looking to win their third straight provincial title.

The team will be led by Ryan Burnside who got on base on four consecutive at bats and scored three runs against the Blues on Tuesday.

After scoring four runs in the first, the Red Sox added another ruin the third, three in the fifth, two in the sixth and three in the seventh to register an impressive 13-2 win.

After allowing a pair of runs in the first, Red Sox starting pitcher Nathan Egert kept the Blues off the scoreboard for the better part of the next four innings to pick up the win, aided by Alex Moyes who got the save after closing out the final two innings.

Alex Joyal, Ryan Burtch and Burnside all hit triples for the Red Sox who completed the tournament with a perfect 3-0 record.
