The Cairine Wilson Wildcats kept their unbeaten record intact on Wednesday with a lopsided victory over the previously undefeated Rideau Rams.

The Wildcats jumped out to a 22-7 first quarter lead thanks to a 12-point effort by Will Jackson-Monroe and never looked back. By the end of the second quarter they were up by 28 and for the game was all but over.

After three quarters the Wildcats still led by 25, and with 6:34 left in the game they took out all their starters to give their bench players some valuable game time experience.

When the final buzzer sounded the Wildcats had put together an impessive 63-37 win without barely working up a sweat.

Jackson-Monroe finished the game with 22 points. Joshua Davison scored 12 points and Thomas Aufleger had 11.

The win moves the Wildcats into sole possession of first place in the senior boys basketball Tier 2 standings, two points up on Rideau, St. Peter and Brookfield, all of whom suffered their only losses to Cairine Wilson. Their six remaining games are against teams with a combined record of 5-13.

First place and a number one seed in the playoffs are easily in reach for the Wildcats who must navigate through exams before the start of the post season.
