Minor Midget Rangers looking forward to post season after
clinching regular season banner

The
Gloucester Rangers Minor Midget AA team has clinched the
OEMHL regular season title after downing the Rideau-St.
Lawrence Kings 2-1 on Jan. 26.
A
pair of second period goals by Andrew Burke and Justin
Brennan was all the Rangers needed to get the win. while
Colin Murray picked up his second shutout of the season
and the team's fifth.
One
of the goals the team had this year was to keep their
goals against down which they've managed to do. Murray
and teammate Jean-Pierre Peladeau have only allowed 57
regular season goals in 30 games good enough for a 1.90
goals against average.
But
none of that matters unless they achieve their ultimate
goal of winning the OEMHL championship. They were in the
exact same position last year and ended up bowing out
of the playoffs in the first round.
This
year they have their eyes set squarely on the prize as
they go for the difficult double in adding a OEMHL championship
banner to their regular season flag.
The
Rangers finished the season with a 21-7-2 record, six
points clear of the Eastern Ontario Cobras. They won one
tournament and lost in the finals of two others.
Coach
Jim Cooke says the team is pumped for the playoffs and
can't wake to make amends for their early exit last year.
There is no provincial championship at the Minor Midget
level, which means there is no tomorrow. The season ends
when the playoffs end, and hopefully they will end the
playoffs with a trophy and a banner.
