Kletner-Alt wins first golf tournament of the season

Orléans native Kiersten Klekner-Alt won her first golf tournament of the U.S. collegiate season last weekend, shooting a two day total of 151 to take home first place honours in the Arkansas-Fort Lions Classic.

The Louis Riel grad and Camelot Golf and Country Club member is in her junior year at Newman University in Wichita, Kansas where her yonger sister Marlies is a freshman.

Kiersten transferred to the Catholic liberal arts school from Ganon University in Erie, Pennsylvania last year after Marlier was offered a full scholarship.

The sisters last played together at École secondaire publique Louis Riel in 2009.

During her second fall season at Gannon, Kiersten placed eighth, 10th and 24th respectively. After transferring to Newman last January she played in two tournaments placing 75th and 24th.

During her high school career, Kiersten was named to the 2010 All-Canadian Mizuno Team, ghe 2010-11 NGCA All-America Scholar Team, and was a PSAC Scholar Athlete.
