Former St. Peter Knight helps Team Canada win tournament

St. Peter high School grad Courtnay Pilypaitis recently
helped the Canadian national badketball team win the Super
Four International Tournament in Sao Carlos, Brazil.
Canadians went 3-0 in the tournament posting wins over
Argentina (65-55) and Puerto Rico (69-54) in the opening
games. Team Canada defeated the host country, Brazil,
56-53 on Sunday to take home the tournament trophy.
Pilypaitis started all three games and finished the tournament
averaging 4.0 points, 3.6 rebounds and 2.0 assists while
playing 20 minutes per game.
Up next for Team Canada is the FIBA Americas Championship
for Women that will be held in Xalapa, Mexico from September
21-28. Canada opens up the tournament facing Jamaica on
Pilypaitis who played for Team Canada at the 2012 London
Olympic Games last summer is about to embark on her second
season as an assistant coach at the University of Vermount.
graduating from St. Peter in 2007, she led the Vermont
Catamounts to back-to-back America East Championships
in 2009 and 2010 and was the America East Tournament Outstanding
Player each year. She also guided UVM to its first NCAA
Tournament win, a victory over Wisconsin, in 2010.
