Young Orléans golfer wins provincial juvenile championship

someone so young, 15-year-old Grace St-Germain, handled
pressure like a seasoned pro on Thursday, birdieing the
first playoff hole at the Renfrew Golf Club to win the
U-17 Ontario Juvenile Championship.
Orléans native hit a near perfect approach shot
on the par-5 18th hole to set up the six-foot birdie putt
which gave her the win over Kennedy Bodfield of St. Catharines
and Alyssa Getty of Leamington.
three golfers finished the third round of the 54-hole
tournament at 5-over par forcing the playoff. St-Germain
shot a 1-over 73 on on Thursday to stay in contention.

(2009), battled back and forth for the lead right up until

Getty drew them even on the scoresheet but one stroke
behind Bodfield who had earlier birdied the 15th playing
in the group ahead of them.

even with Bodfield who parred the last three holes to
sit at +5. Getty then miraculously birdied the 18th to
set up the threeway playoff.
was kind of scared, thinking that now I had to go to a
playoff with Alyssa (Getty), said St-Germain. Then
in the scoring tent they told us that Kennedy (Bodfield)
was coming too, so I was nervous.
soon-to-be Grade 10 student came through with flying colours
the same way she did to win the Ontario junior girls'
match play title earlier this year.
actually didnt know that my shot onto the green
was that close, although everyone was cheering,
laughed St-Germain. When I got up onto the green
and saw it I said, ok, I can do this, its an easy
closed out the tournament with a total score of 218 (69-76-73)
to win the Sandra Post Trophy.
up for the Hylands member is the Graham Cooke Invitational
Junior Tournament in Quebec which will bring together
the best junior golfers in Ontario, Quebec and New Brunswick.
