Hornets come away from ERSL Cup finals with pair of banners

Gloucester Hornets won two ERSL Cup championships on Sunday
and very nearly won a third if not for an extremely hot
goalkeeper who played the game of his young life.
two Cups were won by the Hornets U16 girls team and U15
girls came back from an early 1-0 deficit against West
Ottawa to win their third straight ERSL Cup. Most of the
damage was done by Carolyn "Big Red" Williams
who raced to the game from a hockey tournament in Stoney
Creek and made it just in time to score a pair of second
U15 boys team won in convincing fashion with a 4-0 shutout
over the Ottawa Internationals.
hardluck match of the day involved the U16 Level 3 boys
team which was held to a 1-1 draw in regulation by the
Ottawa Internationals Level 4 team and their goalie Paul
neither team scored in extra time, the game had to be
decided in penalty kicks where the Hornets scoring woes
contnued. Lemay stopped the first three shots he faced,
while the Internartionals scored on each of their first
three attempts to claim the Cup title.
fourth Hornets team vying for an ERSL Cup on Sunday was
the boys U13 squad which ran into a hot Ottawa South United
Force Black team.
arguably the most competitive game of the day, the Hornets
failed to take advantage of their scoring chances and
ended up coming out on the shortend of a 3-0 final.
