St. Peter Knight all-star Courtnay Pilypaitis was back
on the hardcourt this week helping the national women's
basketball team qualify for the gold medal game of the
FIBA America's Championship for Women being held in Mexico.
scored five points in 20 minutes of play in Canada's 73-48
win over Puerto Rico in Friday's semi-final win which
also qualifies them for a spot in next year's World Championships
next for the Canadians is Cuba which knocked off the defending
champions Brazil in Friday's other semi-final.
has not reached the final of the FIBA Americas since hosting
an Olympic-qualifying edition of the competition in Hamilton
in 1995. The Canadians went on to win gold in that tournament
to earn a spot at the 1996 Summer Olympic Games in Atlanta.

over 1,900 points, 800 rebounds and 600 assists.
