Colonel By staves off Garneau comeback to remain in playoff

Colonel By Cougars kept themselves in the hunt for a Tier
2 playoff spot on Wednesday by downing the Garneau Gaulois
in an action-packed game that for the better part of the
first half appeared to be a blowout.
Cougars could do no wrong and the Gaulois couldn't do
anything rght during the first two quarters as Garneau
fell behind 33-0 before they finally got on the scoreboard..

set up a two-yard screen pass to Cébastien Achille
for the major. A missed two-point conversion attempt would
keep the score 32-8 at the half.

he connected with El-Khoury on a sideline pass that came
up a yard short.

Colonel By committed a cardinal sin by having the first
snap on the one yard line go over Richard's head and roll
to the back of the end zone where a speedy Vincent Bourdeau
pounced on it for another six points, narrowing the score
to 32-27 and making it a one possession game.
Gaulois' only chance was to successfully pull off a short
kick but it was not to be as the Cougars gained possession
and ran out the clock.
