Orléans skip Rachel Homan and her team of Emma Miskew, Alison Kreviazuk and Lisa Weagle are showing why they are the team to beat at this year's Scotties Tournament of Hearts, jumping out to a 5-0 record in defence of the title they won last year.

Team Homan has not only won their first five games, but they have done so in impressive fashion, outscoring their opponents 45-20.

In this morning's draw against co-favourites Alberta, Homan and company were in total control from beginning to end..

After forcing Val Sweeting to count one in the first, Homan made a draw for a deuce in the second end. They then forced Sweeting to score another single in the third end, before scoring five huge points with last rock in the fourth.

From there it was just a matter of house cleaning as Team Homan kept the number of rocks in play to a minimum.

By the end of the eighth end it was all over as Sweeting accepted the obvious and conceded defeat.

"We're feeling really comfortable right now, We're learning from each game and trying to get better and better as each game goes on," Homan said during a break in this morning's game. "The girls have been lights out. Line calling and everything has been amazing."

Up next for Team Homan is Team Nova Scotia in tonight's evening draw. The Bluenosers are struggling at 1-4 and are hoping to get their ship back on course.
