The local minor hockey season wrapped up on Sunday with eight more GHA House League championships being decided at the Earl Armstrong Arena.

The Orleans Minor Hockey Association added two more banners to the three they won on Saturday to give them five on the weekend. The Orleans Peewee A2 team downed the Cumberland Dukes A3 squad 5-1 to win the Peewee A championship, and the Juvenile A2 team blew past the Leitrim Hawks 8-1 to claim the Juvenile banner.

Gloucester Centre added the Bantam B2 championship to the Novice A and Atom B1 titles they won on Saturday, and the Cumberland Dukes won the Bantam B1, Bantam A and Midget B1 championships to go along with the Peewee B1 banner they claimed the day before.

In the first of eight championship match-ups on Sunday, the Orleans A2 peewee team downed their Cumberland rivals 5-1 on goals by Matthew Houston, who scored a hat trick, Justine Dallaire and Nicolas Scheunert. Framcois Labelle scored the lone goal for the Dukes.

The Peewee A championship was followed by the Bantam B2 final which saw the Gloucester Centre B1 team down the Dukes B2 squad 4-2 on goals by Thomas Fonseca, who had a pair, Z. Lucas and J Rignault. Alex Prevost and Nick Cousineau both scored for the Dukes.

The Bantam B1 final featured two more teams from Gloucester Centre and the Cumberland Minor Hockey Association. This time it was the Dukes who came out the winner as the organization's B7 team downed the Cougars B2 squad 4-1 on goals by Peter Kasabri, Emilio Assad, Joshua Tennian and Adam Dufour.

The most dramatic game of the day saw two Cumberland Duke teams battle it out in the Bantam A final. The Dukes A4 team needed a goal from Jacob Toll with 24 seconds left in rgulation to take their A2 rivals to overtime. It would take 16 minutes of sudden death hockey before Sam Cronier finally scored to give the A4 Dukes the win and the championships. Jeremy Desjardins and Toll had the A4 team's other two goals, while Thomas Giroux, Antoine Lemay and Noah Maitland scored for the A2 side.

The Cumberland Dukes thrid championship on the day and fourth of the weekend came in the Midget B2 final in which the Dukes B8 team shutout the Blackburn Stringers 2-0 on a pair of third period goals by Francis Nadon and Matthew Gomes-Reissman.

The Russell Warriors B2 midget team won their assocation's only championship banner of the weekend when they beat the Cumberland Dukes B3 team 4-1 in the Midget B1 final. The Warriors got a pair of goals from Joel Groves to go along with singles from Cameron Gregg and Liam Dupelle. Will Monkhouse scored the lone marker for the Dukes.

The Metcalfe Jets took home the Midget A banner with a 4-3 win over the Cumberland Dukes A5 team in the pentultimate final of the weekend, and the Orleans Blues laid claim to the Juvenile flag with a convincing 8-1 over Leitrim in the final final of the day.
