By Fred Sherwin
Cairine Wilson Wildcats magical season will go on for
another day after the senior girls soccer team won its
quarterfinal on Friday to advance to Saturday's semi-finals
at the OFSAA 'AA' championships in Collingwood.
Wildcats beat Centennial Secondary School from Belleville
1-0 to advance to the semi-finals where they will play
Belle River District High School from Essex County. A
win over Bell River would put them through to the final
and a possible gold medal.
Wildcats got off to a good start at the tournament, winning
their first two games 2-1 and 4-0. After tying their third
game, they won their final round robin game to make it
into the playoffs.
Lundin scored on a pair of well-placed penalty kicks in
the first round robin game. In the second round robin
game Megan Foy was the hero with the hat trick, while
Dakota Chamberlain added the fourth marker. Foy scored
again in the third game along with Morgin Lundin. And
Jordin scored the only goal in the quarterfinal.
