he Glouceser Gators are this year's Tier 2 varsity girls hgh school rugby champions after shutting out the Cairine Wilson Wildcats 17-0 in Friday's final.

It took the Gators awhile to get untracked against a determined Wildcats side, but once they got on the scoreboard with a try from Maima Kamara in the 19th minute the result was a foregone conclusion. They would add two more trys and a convert in the second half despite having their captain Beth Wesson sent off after receiving her second yellow card of the game.

Before she went to the sideline, however, she gave the Gators a 10-0 lead six minutes into the second half.

Gloucester's third try was scored by Katie Pickard.

The Gators breezed through the regular season schedule winning four of their five games by a comfortable margin. The only team that gave them a challenge was Cairine Wilson which came with three points of beating them in a 17-14 loss on May 13.

Both teams had a relatively easy go of it in the playoffs, with the Wildcats blowing out the undefeated Central Division champions from Lisgar 51-0 in their semi-final and the Gators topping Mother Teresa 22-5 in the other semi.
