The Cairine Wilson Wildcats won the first OFSAA soccer medal in school history on Saturday, downing St. Mary's High School from Kitchener 1-0 to capture the bronze medal at the provincial AA championships in Collingwood.

Jordan Lundin scored the lone goal of the game for the Wildcats off a feed from Megan Foy. Keeper Kelly Brazeau was credited with her third shutout of the tournament.

The Wildcats got off to a good start at the tournament, winning their first two games 2-1 and 4-0. After tying their third game, they won their final round robin game to make it into the playoffs.

Jordan Lundin scored on a pair of well-placed penalty kicks in the first round robin game. In the second round robin game Megan Foy was the hero with the hat trick, while Dakota Chamberlain added the fourth marker. Foy scored again in the third game along with Morgin Lundin. And Jordan scored the only goal in the quarterfinal.

Their only loss of the season came against Belle River in the semi-finals. The Windsor-area school dropped down to the AA level this year because of dwindling enrollment.

It's been an amazing year for the Wildcats who started the spring campaign with a once in a lifetime trip to England. After their return they went 5-0-1 in the regular season with the lone tie coming in their season opener against St. Pius. They would go on to win the city championship under the tutelage of head coach Stuart Barbour and assistant coach Pilhar Khoury.

Jordan Lundin, Meghan Bryson, Kelly Brazeau, Megan McWilliams, Lauren Firkins and Renee Bigelow are all graduating this year, with Lundin heading off to Radford University in Virginia on a full scholarship.

The Cairine Wilson Wildcats recently returned from Collingwood, Ontario where they won a bronze medal at the OFSAA provincial AA soccer championships.
