Colonel By wins season opener against St. Peter Knights

Colonel By Cougars junior boys rugby team opened their regular
season schedule with a well-earned win against the St. Peter
Knights on Tuesday in a game that saw them come back from
a 14-0 deficit.
The Knights got off to a quick start scoring a pair of
converted tries in the first half, but then they let up
just long enough to allow the Cougars to regroup and score
their first try of the season.
effort gave Colonel By a confidence boost which they quickly
turned into two more tries to take a 21-14 lead.
Knights cut the deficit to 21-19 in the second half, but
a fourth try by the Cougars would extend their lead back
to seven points.
outcome of the game came down to the final seconds. Needing
a converted try to tie the game, the Knights managed to
get the ball down to the try line, but they couldn't get
it over as the Cougars stood them up twice before the
final whistle ended the contest.
Aribido scored two tries for the Cougars, while Femi Ilori
and Daniel Oladejo added one each. Oladejo was also good
on three of four convert attempts.
Knights' tries were scored by Matt Byrne, Quinn Nadon
and Brad Pichete while Matt Therien made two of his three
