The Gloucester Devils are looking to defend their provincial gold as the club's Belle AA and Open AA teams take to the ice in two finals this afternoon.

The Belle AA team advanced to their gold medal game after finishing round robin play in first place with a 6-0 record. The Devils managed to out score their opponents 40-9 lead by co-captains Diane Ouimet, who scored seven goals and added 11 assists to lead the point standings, and Tami Kerr who scored 11 goals and four assists.

The Devils take to the ice at 2:50 p.m. against either Ajax or Waterloo who were to play their bronze medal semi-final game at 7:50 this morning.

Also going for gold today will be the Devils Open AA team lead by Katie Allen and Jodi Jenson who scored eight and seven goals respectively in helping their team amass a 3-1 round robin record.

The Open Devils managed to knock off the first place Cambridge Turbos 3-1 in their semi-final last night, avenging their 4-3 round robin loss to the same team.

The Devils jumped out to an early 1-0 halftime lead on a goal by Jenson at the 7:54 mark of the first period. Allen then added a goal just 37 seconds into the second stanza to give the Devils a 2-0 lead.

Barbara Bautista made the score 3-0 at the 16:42 mark of the period on a pass from Katie Allen. The Turbos' Nicole Freeman scored her team's loan goal at 14:22.

The Turbos and Devils may yet meet again in the gold medal game if Cambridge can knock off Pickering in their second chance, bronze medal game.

Earlier this morning the Devils Junior team won a bronze medal after losing to Ottawa 4-1 in semi-final action.

The loss was a disappointment to the Devils who had earlier beat Ottawa 6-4 in round robin play on their way to amassing a perfect 5-0 record.
