Fred
Sherwin
first started covering the people and events in Orléans and the surrounding
communities as a reporter and columnist for the Orleans Star in October
1989. He
continued to write for the paper for the next 10 years and in 1995 he was appointed
editor, a role which he carried out until 2000 when he was named senior editor
of both the Orleans Star and The Weekly Journal. He
eventually left both papers in July 2001 and started OrleansOnline.ca and
The Eastender shortly afterwards. Since then he's been a fixture in the
community and can often be seen at local minor sporting events, various communtiy
activities and other endeavours that have shaped the community. In
2005 he organized the first ever Orléans Outstanding Youth Awards and a year later
was responsible for putting together the inaugural Greater Orléans Canada Celebration
on Petrie Island which he has organized ever since. Almost
20 years after first joining the Orleans Star, Fred Sherwin is still actively
reporting the daily events that shape the east end while providing positive reinforcement
to the youth in our community by sharing their triumphs through the medium of
the written word. Professional
