The CCHL championship series between the Navan Grads and the Smiths Falls Bears is even at a game apiece after tjhe Bears won Game 2 in overtime on home ice on Sunday.

The Bears opened the scoring at the 8:57 mark of the opening period on a goal by Travis Ouellette, but the lead didn't hold up for long as the Grads answered back with a goal from Nicholas Poane just two minutes later and 14 seconds later.

Smiths Falls went back in front at the 17:25 mark of the second period on a goal by Shaymus Stevenson, but once again the lead didn't last long. It took the Grads just 57 seconds to tie the score again on Colin MacDougall's seventh goal of the playoffs.

The Grads grabbed their first lead of the game just one minute and 30 seconds into the third period when Shaan Kingwell beat Bears' goalie Dawson Labre for his fourth of the playoffs.

It would take 11 minutes before the Bears were able to tie the game on a goal by Kyle Dagg. After neither team could break the deadlock in the final 7:27 of regulation time, the game went into overtime for the second time on the series. Game 1 also had to be settled in overtime, with the Grads coming out on the winning end.

On Sunday, it was the Bears who evetually came our on top when Matthew Dimaline scored at the 3:43 mark of the extra session.

The loss overshadowed a great game by Grads' goalie Jaedon Nelson who turned aways 43 of the 47 shots he faced to earn second star honours.

Game 3 of the series will be played at the Navan Memorial Arena on Wednesday, April 24 at 7:30 p.m.
