A 33-year-old man is facing 52 charges including four counts of attempted murder in connection with a series of attacks near the Wendy's restaurant on Place d'Orléans Drive on Friday, Nov. 15.

Besides the attempted murder charges 33-year-old Trevor Low of Ottawa has been charged with five counts of aggravated assault, 12 counts of assault with a weapon, two counts of carrying a concealed weapon, seven counts of causing damage to property, 20 counts of possession of a dangerous weapon in public, and one count each for assaulting a police officer and obstructing police.

Police were called to the scene shortly after 11 p.m. when they encountered a man weilding a weapon. When he refused to surrender the weapon, police used tasers to try and subdue him before resorting to live amunition and shooting him multiple times.

The assailant somehow survived the shooting and remains under guard in hospital in serious, but stable condition.

Although there has been no official confirmation of the weapon used, there have been reports on social media that it was a small axe or hatchet. Five peole who were injured in the attacks were taken to hospital and treated for non-life-threatening injuries.

The incident is being investigated by the Ontario Special Investigations Unit. Anyone with information, including video or photos, is asked to contact them at 1-800-787-8529 or online at https://siu.on.ca/en/appeals.php.
